On Monkeys and Software Testing Automation Framework

December 12th, 2007 | by admin |

One of the ways in which software testing automation framework is tested for bugs is through “Monkey Testing”, a term most likely derived from the famous ‘infinite monkey hypothesis’ where imaginary monkeys using typewriters are used to demonstrate random actions. No actual monkeys are used in this kind of software testing automation framework of course. The way this type of test works is simple. Keyboard combinations are randomly keyed in hopes of discovering bugs in the system that could hopefully be remedied. There are now some algorithm generators that could be used to facilitate faster test runs.
