How to Hold Your Registry Cleaner to High Standards

How can I tell if my registry cleaner is really doing what it should be?  A good registry cleaner will catch and fix many different error types.  These include System32 errors (corrupt/missing system files), runtime errors (errors while application is running),  IExplore errors (Internet Explorer related), DLL error (corrupt/missing DLL file during installation/removal of program), and access violations (application erroneously requesting access to storage.
